Drawing Crazy Patterns : Personal Website Design Archive

Originally I had a personal website hosted in a corner of PrettySenshi.com named "An Insomniac's Dream," which contained basic information about me, my poetry, sketches, and artwork, in case my visitors were curious about the person behind all the coding. I also had a blog named "My Favorite Plum," and for a while I maintained a separate website dedicated solely to my sketches and drawings. I no longer maintain a blog, and the content of An Insomniac's Dream has been incorporated into ZeynepGoral.com. I also don't draw anymore, so I moved a handful of old sketches to my personal website. Even though I have a paid account on Flickr, I maintain a Photography website, which was my first PHP/MySQL project and learning experience. Below is an archive of past designs for all of these projects, in roughly reverse chronological order.

		ZeynepGoral.com Version 1.0 - Placeholder This layout was more of a placeholder than anything else. As this was supposed to be my new personal domain, I tried to incorporate as many personal expressions as I could. Links to my websites are on the left; random Flickr photographs are featured in the middle, and on the right are my Twitter updates. I also had a random background image that appeared on each reload. 		My Favorite Plum Version 18.0 - Under the Kyoto Trees This marked the final design of My Favorite Plum, before I stopped updating it and removed it from the web. 		My Favorite Plum Version 17 - Boston Skyline I played around with a photograph I took of the Boston skyline from one of the higher floors of the the Boston University law school building. I liked the crisp, wintry feel. Currently 3.50/5 1 2 3 4 5 Rating: 3.5/5 (6 votes cast)

		An Insomniac's Dream Version 18.0 - On the Beach This is another layout I liked after Version 17.0. The photograph is of myself as a kid, on the beach. One thing I particularly liked about this design was the texture; although it was a little tricky, I blended in the sand, sky, and water textures into the background. It added a lot, instead of just blending the photograph into solid background colors. Currently 4.67/5 1 2 3 4 5 Rating: 4.7/5 (9 votes cast)

		My Favorite Plum Version 16.0 - I am a Vespa Woman Although this layout wasn't much of anything special, it featured an insane manga image of Haruko from Furi Kuri bursting in somewhere on her Vespa. Currently 3.50/5 1 2 3 4 5 Rating: 3.5/5 (4 votes cast)

		My Favorite Plum Version 15.0 - Butterfly I love this color scheme, whenever I use it. You can't go wrong with black & red. Although this layout was fairly simple, it was one of my favorites, and stayed up for a while. Currently 5.00/5 1 2 3 4 5 Rating: 5.0/5 (4 votes cast)

		My Favorite Plum Version 14.0 - Wings This layout featured an image of Daisuke from the series D.N.Angel. There wasn't much special about it; it had a very serene feeling with that picture and the color scheme. Currently 3.33/5 1 2 3 4 5 Rating: 3.3/5 (3 votes cast)

		Shimmer / Vague Inklings Version 10.0 - Finale I got sick of the somewhat corny name "Shimmer," and changed it to "Vague Inklings." With this layout I took out a bunch of drawings that didn't make the cut, and instead focused on a smaller number of my best sketches. After this layout I ultimately deleted my drawings website and incorporated the content into my general personal website. Currently 1.50/5 1 2 3 4 5 Rating: 1.5/5 (2 votes cast)

		An Insomniac's Dream Version 17.0 - Above the Clouds This layout was composed of various digital photographs of clouds that I took from a number of different plane rides. I like that it's peaceful and clean. In terms of graphics and organization for my personal site, this design was leaps and bounds ahead of the layouts that came before it. 		My Favorite Plum Version 13.0 - Put it in Your Heart Featuring a photograph of myself as a baby with two other kids. At the time I put this together, the sun hadn't shone for almost a whole month.
